Description

A press for the preparation of cider or a wheat winnowing machine are some of the objects, large and small, old or in use, with which Larraul aims to inform about day-to-day life in the homesteads.

With just 150 inhabitants, Larraul is a series of homesteads on the sides of Mount Ernio which have remained practically unchanged for centuries. Its museum offers the opportunity to get to know its way of life and subsequent evolution.

Most of the pieces on display refer to the rural sphere: spades and ploughs, carriages and tools, a wheat winnowing machine, cider press, kutxas (sculpted wooden containers), pots. The museum also contains a sewing machine, a telephone, argizaiolas (spiral candles), books, trunks, old photographs and scales which tell visitors about religion, trade, sport, war, festivities and emigration.
