We have a common goal
We operate as a network, ensuring our establishments adhere to current regulations, are more sustainable and better adapted, and receive high ratings from tourists. We achieve these goals by offering services to all our affiliates on an ongoing basis.
You can join Nekatur if you are currently running an agrotourism establishment, country house or rural tourist apartment in the Basque Country, provided you have submitted the relevant responsible declaration to the Basque Regional Government's Tourism Department.
Please read carefully. It is important to understand the Nekatur affiliation procedure, the documents required, and the associated fees.
The process is simple. Go ahead.
Requirements for affiliation
Our association hosts 3 types of accommodation, in accordance with Basque Government regulations:
Agrotourism establishments
“Agrotourism” combines the terms “agriculture” and “tourism” to describe accommodation, with or without board, in farmhouses or traditional establishments within farming operations where tourists can engage in agricultural or livestock activities.
Agrotourism establishments must have a minimum capacity of 4 places.
Maximum capacity, excluding extra beds, is as follows:
- Accommodation in individual rooms: 12 places.
- Accommodation in fully leased properties: 18 places.
- Mixed accommodation: 16 places.
Maximum capacity including extra places is 24 places.
The maximum number of individual rooms is 4.
Link to regulationsCountry houses
Country houses are countryside homes that offer accommodation services, with or without board, in buildings featuring typical rural architecture.
Country houses must have a minimum capacity of 4 places.
Link to regulationsRural tourist apartments
Rural tourist apartments are apartments in rural areas, located in buildings or constructions that reflect the region's traditional architecture.
Rural tourist apartments must have at least two apartments and accommodate up to 24 guests (including extra beds).
Capacity depends on the number of beds in the bedrooms, including bunk beds, and by the number of convertible beds in other rooms.
Sofa beds can be used in the living room or dining room, up to a maximum of two places.
Affiliation and general fees
An affiliation fee and an annual fee are required to join Nekatur.
The affiliation fee is a one-off payment, and helps us uphold essential quality standards for the association's proper functioning.
Affiliation fee
There are two affiliation fee options:
AFFILIATION FEE: €150
Includes: signup + Nekatur plaque + online/telephone training in Nekatur tools.
AFFILIATION FEE WITH PHOTO REPORT: €300
Includes: signup + Nekatur plaque + online/telephone training in Nekatur tools + extensive photo report.
General fee
The general annual fee covers maintenance of the association's essential services and tools.
It is the amount calculated by adding €130 to one day's occupancy cost (determined by multiplying the number of rooms by their average price) and then dividing by 12 months.
Example: The annual fee for accommodation with 6 rooms, each priced at an average of €60, is calculated as follows:
6 rooms x €60 (price per room) = €360 (1-day occupancy) + €130 (fixed amount) = €490 divided by 12 months = €40.83 per month.
