The former Urola railway station in Azpeitia houses a collection of old locomotives and other elements related to the world of trains. The visit can be rounded off with a trip on board a real steam train.
The museum displays one of the best railway collections in Europe, with steam, diesel and electric locomotives, trams, trolleybuses and all kinds of wagons. Immersion in the history of railways is completed with a visit to the facilities of the former electrical transformation station, which, over a century ago, was equipped with ultramodern technology, along with a display of railway uniforms and a unique collection of station clocks.
After visiting the Basque Railway Museum, at weekends visitors can climb on board the old Urola railway carriages, and cross part of the valley in a train pulled by a hundred-year-old steam train, Aurrera.
