Zuya: Entirely natural

We propose starting this route in Murgia (1) and heading to Sarria Interpretation Centre (2), from where Gorbeia natural reserve can be accessed. You can also go up to the Santuario de Oro shrine (3) from the town of Bitoriano (taking the A-4416 main road). The views are outstanding.

Link up with the A-3610 road to visit Manurga, a small town with beautiful manorial houses. Then take the A-3610 heading towards Gopegi (5), where we will find the notable Church of La Asunción, with mediaeval elements, and Goikoetxea tower.

From here, take the A-3608 road towards Legutiano. On the way you will discover small towns of great beauty, such as Murua (6) and Etxaguen (7). Both are ideal starting points for excursions towards Mount Gorbeia. Continuing along the road past the homesteads of San Pedro, take the N-240 road and you will find, to your right, Ollerías district (8), home to the Traditional Basque Pottery Museum. Continue towards Legutiano and, having passed over the bridge over the reservoir, take the turn-off towards Otxandiano (9), via the A-623. In this town of Vizcaya you can stroll around its beautiful Old District. Continuing along the same road (BI-623), will take us to the high point of Urkiola (10), from where the park of the same name can be accessed. Another option is to take the BI-3941 in Otxandiano and reach Oleta (11), a town from where we can observe the spectacular Amboto peak (1,328 metres).

Continue along the A-3841 to Puerto de Cruceta, from where we recommend going down to Ibarra de Aramaio (12) via the A-2620. From here, the A-2620 will take you to Legutiano (13), a town situated on the banks of the Urrúnaga Reservoir. If you would like to continue to enjoy the water landscape, take the N-240 towards Vitoria-Gasteiz and turn off at the A-627 to Landa (14).

Going around Ullíbarri Reservoir you will enjoy a landscape of great beauty, either by taking the A-3002 towards the town of Ullíbarri Gamboa (15), or the A-3014 towards Marieta (16) in La Cuadrilla de Salvatierra. If you choose the latter option, continue along the road to the A-3012, from where you can take the A-4012 turn off to Garaio park (17), an authentic "beach" equipped with all kinds of services, including bicycle hire. Not far from here you will find Mendíjur Bird Observatory (18).
