The essence of txakoli Explore vineyards and savour Basque tradition.

Txakoli is a traditional Basque wine made from white grapes and produced in different areas of the Basque coast and in the interior of Alava, under three different Denominations of Origin. It is characterised by its freshness and slight acidity on the palate.

There is no better way to immerse yourself in the world of Txakoli than to take a stroll through the vineyards along the coast, taking advantage of the proximity of Pagoeta and learning all the secrets of the production process.

The doors to the wineries, vineyards and their daily activities are open in Aia, a town close to the Pagoeta Natural Park.

Visiting some of the family wineries that belong to the Getaria Txakoli C.R.D.O. (Denomination of Origin) will help you understand their work and history. Some of these experiences include pintxos and Txakoli tasting.

Geoturism on the Basque Coast Just a stone's throw from Pagoeta is this geological jewel.

Can you imagine being able to travel back through 60 million years of the Earth's history? It may sound remote and far away, but the truth is that the 13 kilometres of cliffs between the towns of Mutriku, Deba and Zumaia, are a good starting point to discover and learn about some of the most important episodes of the troubled history of our planet.

You will probably have heard of the word flysch. You may also be familiar with the word karst. It doesn't make any difference. They are two geological terms and concepts closely linked to the landscape that characterises our territory and that will accompany you on your journey along the Basque Coast. Immerse yourself in a natural paradise that elegantly blends sea and mountains, a region that combines a geological heritage of international importance with a unique culture and gastronomy that is second to none.
