Saldropo Wetland

The humid soil of Saldropo is situated next to the Barazar harbour. The way to the humid soil runs through the Atxuri Cliffs with the view of the impressive landscape of the Gorbeia massif and even the neighbouring Ukiola Natural Park.

The central part of the Saldropo plain is represented with a very particular ecosystem, of high ecological importance. It is based on the humid soil which favours diverse vegetation (insectivores, sphagnum etc.).

Another specific feature of the plain is that it's situated on former turbary, exploited in full, where nowadays there is a little information and consulting centre. The road to the Saldropo humid soil is marked with yellow arrows and gives the visitor an opportunity to experience the beauty of the unique ecosystem.

Next to the parking there is a well-equipped entertainment area, where the road to the Saldropo humid soil begins. You can find the instructive informational screen of the Natural Park.
This place is also the beginning of many other itineraries such as the ascension to the Cross.
