The Castle of Muñatones is the result of a long construction process, which extended during XIV and XV century, within the context of the wars known as Guerras de Bandos that devastated the Basque Country during the convulsive years.
The Castle, which is one of the most outstanding elements of Biscay's architectural heritage, has been declared Monumental Complex in recognition of its exceptional historic value and the importance of the conserved remains.
