Laida beach

Laida beach belongs to the Vizcaya municipality of Ibarrangelu, and is located in the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai.
With almost a kilometre of fine golden sand, it is the largest beach of the Mundaka estuary, and offers the possibility of many different sports activities: Windsurfing, paddle boating, sailing... But, without doubt, it is surfing which is worth special mention, since opposite the beach is the prestigious wave of Mundaka. Surfers from many parts of the world come here to catch the waves on their boards.

Moreover, Laida is a well-equipped and kept beach. It has bodyguards, "hondartzainas" and nearby car parks, plus other services such as showers, public lavatories, changing rooms, foot showers, bike racks and hotel establishments in the area.

Another of the characteristics which distinguishes this Vizcaya beach is its shallow waters, which are ideal for children's bathing. Moreover, half way up the stretch of sand is a beautiful dune, from where we can enjoy an excellent view of the mouth of the estuary, with the isle of Izaro in the distance.

Moreover, Laida beach has been awarded ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates, for quality and environment respectively.
