Elorrio Monuments

This Vizcaya town is particularly notable for its mediaeval heritage, which is unique in Vizcaya. Its old district was declared a Monumental Site in 1964. It is wonderful to stroll around its streets, full of palaces and manorial houses of stone and dressed ashlar from the 17th and 18th centuries.

In the centre of the old district, in Guernicako Arbola square, we find the Town Hall and the elegant basilica of La Purísima Concepción. Very close by, next to Arezpakotxaga Palace, we find the gateway of Don Tello, the only one remaining of the six originally found in the old wall which surrounded the town. The Baroque palace of Marqués de Tola, the Monastery of Santa Ana and the Church of San Agustín are other monuments which are worth visiting.
